The ISTF is a politically independent think-tank for young adults who are interested in the universal and long-term challenges of our time. It was launched by the foundation Swiss Youth in Science in 2009 and is attended by highly talented young people from Switzerland and more than 25 countries around the world.
By placing students alongside experts, decisionmakers and lateral-thinkers, ISTF creates a space for innovation, interaction, and debate aimed at developing solutions to a new, globally significant topic each year. Working closely in such a setting, ISTF participants will learn how to tackle interdisciplinary problems with solution-oriented approaches. They also have the chance to build a network of national and international contacts – a launchpad for their aspirations in business, science or politics.
Each of the 70 participants gets assigned to a workgroup of seven international members and tackles one of the Challenges with the support of a team of dedicated innovation coaches. Groups will follow a structured design-thinking process and get inspiration for their work from the Challengers, a panel discussion, impulse speeches, and during informal and formal exchanges with other groups. At the end of the Forum, each team will present their ideas in a short pitch at the public closing event.
